What types of events will be hosted at the Kalamazoo Event Center?

Both professional & collegiate teams are poised to call the Kalamazoo Event Center home with Western Michigan University Hockey and Mens' and Womens' Basketball as well as the Professional ECHL Hockey team - The Kalamazoo Wings. All teams will host their home games at the Kalamazoo Event Center along with a mix of youth sporting events, conferences, trade shows, concerts, and more.

What are the food and beverage options at the Kalamazoo Event Center?

How is parking being handled for events?

Conveniently located adjacent to the center at Park Street and Water Street, this structure will offer 1,176 parking spaces, including 12 EV charging stations. With easy access via Westnedge and Water Streets, it ensures seamless parking for visitors. Beyond that parking option, attendees will be encouraged to utilize one of the many parking structures throughout downtown which are just minutes away from the arena's entry doors. We will help identify other methods for getting to the stadium on event days, including preferred parking lots near the stadium, public transportation options, rideshare, and other transit solutions.

What security measures are in place to ensure a safe environment?

The arena prioritizes the safety and security of all guests, staff, and performers. We will have comprehensive security measures in place, including 24/7 surveillance. Our team works closely with local law enforcement and emergency responders to ensure a coordinated approach to safety.

Are there interactive fan experiences within the Kalamazoo Event Center?

Yes! The event center offers a variety of interactive fan experiences designed to enhance engagement and excitement. Guests will enjoy immersive digital displays, interactive social media activations, behind-the-scenes experiences, and exclusive fan zones. Depending on the event, there may also be opportunities for meet-and-greets, VIP experiences, and in-game fan participation activities. How is the the Kalamazoo Event Center funded?

The Kalamazoo Event Center is privately funded.

Will there be shuttles to and from nearby campuses for students?

Yes! Ensuring convenient transportation for students is a key part of our planning. We are actively planning for students to be shuttled, have their own parking and/or walk safely to the facility. 

 

We are collaborating with our city busing partners to provide regular line access to the Event Center as well as designated game day shuttles for students. These shuttles will pick up at multiple locations across campus and drop off directly at the event center. To maximize efficiency and minimize wait times, the shuttles will run on a continuous loop before and after each event. More detailed pickup locations and schedules will be shared as we get closer to opening.

 

We have found that a large portion of our students drive to games at Lawson Arena, and therefore, we are also working to provide a designated student parking area at the event center.

 

Finally, the Arena will have a paved path from Stadium Drive to the entry.  The front door is only .75 miles from Waldo Stadium.

The NCAA and Professional Athletic Performance Center features state-of-the-art training and recovery technology, dedicated practice courts, and a practice rink embodies our commitment to athlete development and championship pursuit. These elements will live within the Kalamazoo Event Center for both WMU Hockey, Basketball, and the Kalamazoo Wings Hockey Club to utilize.

Will the Kalamazoo Wings be playing in the Kalamazoo Event Center?

Without a doubt! The K-Wings will be playing in the new arena, and we’re thrilled for what’s ahead!

Will existing season ticket holders have similar seats in the Kalamazoo Event Center?

While we don’t have final details yet, we’re committed to keeping our season ticket holders informed and ensuring they have great seating options.

Will ticket prices increase for K-Wings games?

We are still in the process of determining pricing structures for games and events. We can promise that fans can expect continued value and great entertainment when they come to a K-Wings game.

What will happen to Wings Event Center?

Wings Event Center is entering a new chapter, and while it will no longer serve its current purpose, plans for the space are still being developed.

Will current season ticket holders at Lawson Arena have first right of refusal for comparable seats or upgrades?

Will WMU and K-Wings season ticket holders receive discounts on each other’s packages?
