The Kalamazoo Event Center is slated to open in Fall of 2027.

Both professional & collegiate teams are poised to call the Kalamazoo Event Center home with Western Michigan University Hockey and Mens' and Womens' Basketball as well as the Professional ECHL Hockey team - The Kalamazoo Wings. All teams will host their home games at the Kalamazoo Event Center along with a mix of youth sporting events, conferences, trade shows, concerts, and more.

Our team is committed to providing an inclusive and accessible experience for all guests. We will offer ADA-compliant seating, accessible parking, elevators, and restrooms throughout the venue.

The event center will feature a diverse selection of food and beverage options, including local favorites, fan-favorite concessions, and premium dining experiences. Guests can enjoy a variety of quick-service options, specialty food vendors, and full-service bars throughout the venue. Additionally, we will offer dietary-friendly choices. Conveniently located adjacent to the center at Park Street and Water Street, this structure will offer 1,176 parking spaces, including 12 EV charging stations. With easy access via Westnedge and Water Streets, it ensures seamless parking for visitors. Beyond that parking option, attendees will be encouraged to utilize one of the many parking structures throughout downtown which are just minutes away from the arena's entry doors. We will help identify other methods for getting to the stadium on event days, including preferred parking lots near the stadium, public transportation options, rideshare, and other transit solutions.

The arena prioritizes the safety and security of all guests, staff, and performers. We will have comprehensive security measures in place, including 24/7 surveillance. Our team works closely with local law enforcement and emergency responders to ensure a coordinated approach to safety.

Yes! The event center offers a variety of interactive fan experiences designed to enhance engagement and excitement. Guests will enjoy immersive digital displays, interactive social media activations, behind-the-scenes experiences, and exclusive fan zones. Depending on the event, there may also be opportunities for meet-and-greets, VIP experiences, and in-game fan participation activities. Our goal is to create a dynamic and unforgettable experience for every guest, making each visit more than just a spectator event!

The arena plans to attract major performers and events by leveraging strong industry relationships, offering a state-of-the-art venue with top-tier technology and amenities, and creating an exceptional experience for both artists and fans. Our team will actively collaborate with promoters, agencies, and entertainment networks to secure concerts, sporting events, and shows. Additionally, our location, market demand, and commitment to seamless event execution make us a competitive destination for world-class entertainment.

The Kalamazoo Event Center is privately funded.

Yes! Ensuring convenient transportation for students is a key part of our planning. We are actively planning for students to be shuttled, have their own parking and/or walk safely to the facility. 

We are collaborating with our city busing partners to provide regular line access to the Event Center as well as designated game day shuttles for students. These shuttles will pick up at multiple locations across campus and drop off directly at the event center. To maximize efficiency and minimize wait times, the shuttles will run on a continuous loop before and after each event. More detailed pickup locations and schedules will be shared as we get closer to opening.

We have found that a large portion of our students drive to games at Lawson Arena, and therefore, we are also working to provide a designated student parking area at the event center.

Finally, the Arena will have a paved path from Stadium Drive to the entry.  The front door is only .75 miles from Waldo Stadium.

The NCAA and Professional Athletic Performance Center features state-of-the-art training and recovery technology, dedicated practice courts, and a practice rink embodies our commitment to athlete development and championship pursuit. These elements will live within the Kalamazoo Event Center for both WMU Hockey, Basketball, and the Kalamazoo Wings Hockey Club to utilize.

The newly proposed sports complex will not only help drive additional visitors to our region to attend events and games at the Kalamazoo Event Center, but also continue to offer ways for Kalamazoo-area residents to engage sports. We see the sports complex as a great addition to our growing Southwest Michigan community!

Yes! Fundraising opportunities are currently available for local non-profits at Wings Event Center, which is owned and operated by Greenleaf Hospitality Group. We plan to continue and expand these opportunities at the new Kalamazoo Event Center, with more details to come as opening approaches.

We’re actively exploring all possibilities as we plan the new Kalamazoo Event Center, including the potential to host annual events from Wings Event Center and Wings West. Final decisions will depend on factors like ice availability and event logistics, and we’ll share more updates as plans come together.

Without a doubt! The K-Wings will be playing in the new arena, and we’re thrilled for what’s ahead!

We are still in the process of determining pricing structures for games and events. We can promise that fans can expect continued value and great entertainment when they come to a K-Wings game.

Wings Event Center is entering a new chapter, and while it will no longer serve its current purpose, plans for the space are still being developed.

Western Michigan University Hockey and Mens' and Womens' Basketball will play, practice, and have team spaces within the Kalamazoo Event Center.
