Thank you for celebrating with us!
A new era for downtown Kalamazoo officially began on September 26 with the groundbreaking of the Kalamazoo Event Center. Community leaders, partners, and residents gathered to celebrate the start of construction on a venue that will transform the city’s cultural and economic landscape.
The private ceremony drew nearly 400 guests, followed by a community celebration with more than 3,000 attendees outside the Radisson Plaza Hotel. The event featured remarks from a variety of local leaders and project partners, including Bill Johnston, Mayor David Anderson, Dan Bartholomae of WMU, and Toni Will of the K-Wings, who all shared their excitement and vision for the future of Kalamazoo.
Once complete, the facility will host over 225 events annually, featuring WMU hockey and basketball, the Kalamazoo Wings, and a wide range of community events.
